Managing Partner

Matt Blackburn is a Managing Partner and co-founder of CVA Family Office. Along with Chris Younger and David Tolson, Matt established CVA Family Office as a Registered Investment Advisor in September 2016. At CVA Family Office, our goal is to develop a deep and long-lasting relationship with our clients, earning the role of trusted advisor for all facets of the family’s financial life.

With his background in Portfolio Management, Matt’s primary role is to develop and manage an investment portfolio that is unique to each client’s objectives, circumstances, and risk tolerance. Along with the day-to-day monitoring and management of client portfolios, Matt also works closely with Dalyce Young in all aspects of relationship management, aiming to deliver a high level of service and attention to each of our valued clients.

Prior to helping start CVAFO, Matt spent 24 years working for 3 publicly-traded financial institutions – Charles Schwab, PNC (National City Bank) and Key Private Bank. His roles have included portfolio manager and branch manager in Ohio, and the past 7 years as a Wealth Advisor for Key Private Bank in Denver. During his last 4 years at Schwab, Matt managed an office, and 8 financial professionals, who assisted clients with over $1B in total assets. Over the course of 7 years with PNC Bank, he served as Portfolio Manager and the primary point of contact for 70 families with total discretionary assets under management of over $300 million. As Matt’s career progressed, he developed an affinity for advising business owners and their families. While at KeyBank, Matt worked with a team of professionals who served primarily business-owner clients by holistically addressing a variety of wealth management issues.

Matt graduated from Miami University (Ohio) with a degree in Finance and later earned his MBA from Kent State University. A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Matt spent the first few years of his Schwab career in Denver, and then relocated his family back to Colorado in 2009. He and his wife, Halle, have three children and live in Castle Pines.
